Post 1 - How We Used awandco in our Homeschool this Week

Hi friends!
Thank you for stopping by.
We are starting up a new blog where we are going to share what awandco products we used in our homeschool each week.

We are homeschooling two grades (1 and 4), and we can’t wait to share the different ways in which we integrate awandco into our learning.

For our first share -
Hands on colourful math activities for the win ! 💕

We are doing a lot of multiplication review and practice. This week, we moved our multiplication to dry erase, and my oldest declared: “Math is more fun on dry erase because I can use pink!”

This is one of the rectangles from our writing bar tray listing. The dry erase are all available on their own without the tray.

Next Up : A little number line magic 💛

Using the dry erase number line helped my youngest see the jumps in addition and subtraction.

We are doing a lot of addition and subtraction review, and this is one of her favourite tools. If I forget to take it out, she asks for it!

This is our new number line that was added this week. This is the regular size but it is also available in a large. It has 5 lines with 20 ticks, allowing it to go up to 100.

Next up - fact families!

This is new for my grade 1.

The day prior to this, she struggled to understand it and I felt like I wasn’t teaching it well. We ended up frustrated and we took a break.

I spoke with a homeschooling friend who suggested this new circle dry erase. I cut it that night, and the next day we tried again, hands on — and it finally clicked!
We were so happy.

This is our new circle family dry erase that we added to the website this week, with 2 inch circle coins and a rectangle dry erase that fits into our 20 frame.

Next Up! Base 10 practice with our dry erase Flisat Table Top Insert

First : I placed different quantities of blocks in each square and wrote two numbers above — she circled the correct one.

Then :  we switched it up: I wrote the number, and she built it with the blocks.

My oldest watched the whole thing (while practicing her multiplication on her dry erase) and told me how creative I was for making products that help them learn. My heart 🥹.

This is our awandco dry erase base 10 Flisat insert. The base 10 blocks are Learning Resources brand.

Last but not least :

Box/grid multiplication, meet colour and creativity! 💜

We tried this the other day as well, but my oldest got pretty frustrated. Why do we have to learn this new way of multiplying?!?!

So, the next day, I figured I would just take it off the page. Using our 8.5 x 11 dry erase board with purple paper underneath the clear dry erase made math more visual, interactive, and fun this week.

Some kids just need to be able to choose their background and dry erase colours to make learning that much more fun.

Honourable mention - our new dry erase 5 frame with 2 inch dry erase circles for some multiplication matching.

This is our 8.5 x 11 tray with dry erase insert. We make many inserts that can fit inside, but it is great for reusing worksheets or just having a fun space to do work.

Very impressive! Anything that makes learning fun makes learning easier. The colours and the different options are so much more fun than a paper and pencil. . Great job!
