Crayon Box Flisat Table Top Insert with Dry Erase

These are made to fit the large Trofast bin. The white box is dry erase.The dry erase crayons are 1.5 x 4 inches each and the white dry erase on the crayon box is approximately 3.75 x 7.25 inches! . Use it for taking lessons off of the page, colour sorting, pretend play, you name it. In addition to having fun playing with the crayon board, arranging the crayons inside, and using their own ways to play (you’d be surprised the things your kiddos can come up with!) Here is a variety of creative ways you can use it:

1. Math Problems— Write a problem on the white dry erase piece on the board. Each crayon piece can represent a number, an operation (like addition or subtraction), or a mathematical concept. Children can arrange the crayons to create and solve the math problems visually. You can also write different numbers on each crayon and arrange them in ascending or descending order.

2. Learning Colours and Colour Mixing — The crayon-shaped pieces can be used to teach children about different colours and colour theory. Kids can match the colors on the crayons with real-life objects or mix two crayon colors to learn about secondary colors. For example, they can combine a blue and a yellow crayon to "create" green. Have them put only the secondary colours into the crayon case. 

3. Spelling and Vocabulary — Each crayon can have a letter, word, or picture associated with it. Kids can use the crayons to spell out words, match pictures to words, or even practice rhyming and building simple sentences. Use the white piece on the board and write a category, and have them match up the letter/word/picture associated on the crayon. 

4. Grammar and Conjunctions — For older kids, the crayons can represent different parts of speech (nouns, verbs, adjectives, etc.) or conjunctions (and, but, or). Children can create sentences by placing the crayons in order, learning how different parts of speech connect to form coherent thoughts.

5. Storytelling and Sequencing — The crayons can be used as prompts for creative storytelling. Each crayon can have a picture, word, or phrase that a child must incorporate into a story. Write the topic of the story on the white dry erase piece on the board, or draw some pictures to spark an idea that they can work off of. This activity encourages imagination and helps with understanding story structure and sequencing.

6. Pattern Recognition and Memory Games — Create a series of patterns in the white dry erase piece, and then write the same patterns, out of order, with the coloured crayons. Children then use the crayons to replicate the pattern or expand upon. This can enhance their memory, concentration, and pattern-recognition skills.

7. Interactive Play and Game Design — Children can design their own games using the crayon pieces and board as game elements. For example, a color-based scavenger hunt around the house where they have to find objects that match the crayon colors.

8. Emotional Learning — Draw out faces on the white dry erase piece on the board. Replicate them in writing on each crayon can representing an emotion, and children can use them to express how they are feeling or discuss scenarios where different emotions are involved as well as match them up to the faces on the board. 

The wooden board is not only a learning tool but also sparks creativity and engagement through interactive play. It is adaptable for various age groups and learning levels, making it an excellent resource for teachers, parents, and caregivers.

A note about wood : wood is prone to warping under high or low temperatures and moisture levels. The wood used for these inserts has a water-resistant composition which has a higher moisture tolerance than panels made with formaldehyde and is less likely to warp. Regardless of this, we cannot guarantee that each and every insert remains completely flat due to changes in environment. If you find your insert isn’t as flat as you’d like, you can try spraying the bottom with a very light amount of water and putting the board under some heavy items to help flatten it out.
